From Dave Luddy, Events Secretary, LTWA

1. BULLETINS No.1
We are planning four bulletins a year. The first in 2018 will appear at the end of March (No.2), followed by July (No.3). October (No.4) and December (No.5).

2. LTWA Special ‘On the record’ Lunches – for your diary
We are planning two special lunches a year - first in the Spring and then in the autumn. We are hoping that our first guest will be the upcoming new LTA chief executive Scott Lloyd. He starts his role next month. Lloyd is the son of David Lloyd, the former British Davis Cup player, and winner of the LTWA annual award in 1999. The lunches will take place at our ‘home’ London venue - the Cambio De Tercio in the Old Brompton Road, Kensington.

3. LTWA Meetings and the AELTC
There are four LTWA committee meetings a year. If anyone wishes to raise any constructive points for your committee to consider and also for our meetings with the AELTC – then please contact me via email. Our next LTWA meeting is on Monday April 30 2018. This will be followed by our annual meeting with the Media Sub Committee of the All England Lawn Tennis Club on the same day – and 24 hours before the AELTC Spring Conference.

4. LTWA Annual Lunch
This year’s lunch took place on November 28 at the Roehampton Tennis Club. Our traditional venue – the All England Club – was not available due to construction. We hope to return to the AELTC next year. The LTWA’s 66th annual award went to Britain’s number 1 player Johanna Konta, world ranked 9. We were delighted that Jo was able to attend. There was also a special award to Alan Jones for his services to tennis – 50 years as a coach. He coached the former world number 5 Jo Durie – a current LTWA member. Sky Sports presenter Marcus Buckland conducted the raffle. £3,172 was raised for the Charity - Give It Your Max. This is a UK charity that helps provide qualified tennis coaches for 5-10 year olds in the state sector. Over 150 people from the tennis family attended this year’s successful lunch. They included administrators, journalists, players and friends. Our thanks to the Roehampton Club for hosting the venue and particularly to April Tod for organising our biggest event of the year.

5. LTWA Articles request
We would be delighted to receive articles – 600-800 words – for our website run by Barry Millns. They can be stories already published or new stories and have a life of at least a month or longer.

6. LTWA Development
And we would like to hear from you regarding the future development of the Association.

7. FINALLY
I look forward to seeing many of you in the Melbourne sunshine during the Australian Open when we look forward to the return of Andy Murray. As usual I’ll be in the new radio room – if anyone wants to find me. Have a great Xmas and New Year.
Best wishes
